John Bonham's Last 24 Hours - The Day John Bonham Died John Bonham was and remains the greatest, most influential Rock Drummer of all-time and best known as the drummer for Led Zeppelin. Describing the style of John Bonham's drumming instantly conjurs up visions of the thunderous power he created. Esteemed for his speed, power, fast single-footed kick drumming, distinctive sound, and feel for the groove, his contributions to rock music were revolutionary, and his talent unmatched and irreplaceable. So it came as no surprise that when he passed away suddenly, Led Zeppelin disbanded. In 1995 he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Led Zeppelin. In 2016, Rolling Stone ranked him first in its list of the "100 Greatest Drummers of All Time". In the history of classic rock, no one hit the drums harder than Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham. Sadly, though, Bonham came up in the era when rockers were as destructive as they were productive. Others like Keith Moon, the drummer for The Who, beat themselves up as much as they beat up their drum kits. It was the time when hotel rooms looked like war zones after bands left them. But all this history aside, how did Bonham pass away? And why did the British-born artist known as “Bonzo” live only to the age of 32? The year 1980 was a sad one for rock fans. Not only was it the year John Lennon was murdered, but it was the final year of Bonham’s life, as well. While Bonham’s death at 32 years old was ruled an accidental one, the real cause was addiction and alcoholism. On September 24, 1980 Bonham was picked up by Led Zeppelin assistant Rex King to attend rehearsals at Bray Studios for a tour of North America, to begin October 17th in Montreal, Canada; it was the band’s first tour since 1977. During the journey, Bonham asked to stop for breakfast, where he drank four quadruple vodka screwdrivers. Then, at rehearsals, those around noted Bonzo continued to drink, not giving his body (or liver) a moment to rest. After rehearsals, which ended late in the day, the band went back to guitarist Jimmy Page’s house where Bonham fell asleep. And though someone left him on his side, he still vomited. Incapacitated from the amount of alcohol he drank, Bonham never woke up. He choked and died on his own vomit and was declared dead on September 25, 1980. The investigation into his death showed that Bonham had more than a liter of alcohol in his system, some 40 shots. And while no other recreational drugs were found in his system, Rolling Stone reported that he was getting over a heroin habit and he was taking some other medication for his anxiety and depression. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe To The Remember This UA-cam Channel Here ► geni.us/RememberThisChannel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 💥 History and Nostalgia Channel (20th Century History Documentaries)💥 Welcome to the Remember This UA-cam History and Nostalgia Channel where we discuss thought provoking subject matter from recent the recent past to modern day... get ready for 20th Century History Documentaries content on all things from conspiracy theories to real events and how they shaped our lives. Glenn Frey had a smooth voice and was a competent rhythm guitarist. That's the good that I can say about him. Conversely, he wrote very few of their songs. He was a co-writer, pairing with Henley, JD Souther, even Bob Seeger. He was the subject of their "change a word, get a third" joke, being that he would offer a puny amount of input on someone else's song, then claim co-writer's credit to boost his royalties. He was also a world-class dick. He was the reason Bernie quit, the reason Randy quit, and went to war with Felder, finally firing him. He treated the other band members like dirt, and took way more credit (and money) than he was deserving of. He (and Henley) spent millions on personal expenses (an ounce of cocaine a week for Frey) of band money, not their own. Frey made enemies everywhere he went. Thanks for the music, Frey..... but I don't miss you.

In the late 90s I dated a woman who worked events at the Kennedy Center and one such event featured Lauren Bacall. Who, my friend claimed, was drunk upon her arrival for said event, where she was to be interviewed. She was very cordial to everyone backstage, but they were all panicking about her condition. On cue, she marched out on the stage, took her seat and held forth for a 90 minute interview without showing a hint of her condition. My friend and her coworkers were beyond impressed. I was in the audience and had no clue she was hammered. She was classy, charming and very entertaining. Most of all, her voice was mesmerizing.

My father was friends with Actor James Garner as a very young man of around 14. I wanted to be in radio. And Jack Benny was my idol and Mr. Garner made arrangement for me to call Mr.Benny. I was so nervous to call him but i did and Mr.Benny was so nice to me we talked about what got him in radio and he gave me so much advice. Then near the end of a long conversion he said i needed to send him $10.00 for all the advice. Lol he then said he was joking. We talked many of times over the year's And he also hooked me up with Merve Griffin he was nice but we never became friends like i did with Jack! I now have been in radio 54 years all because Mr.Benny fun the fire into me to go after your dream.

The Truth About Lauren Bacall (1924 - 2014) Lauren Bacall Life Story Born Betty Joan Perske in 1924 the bustling heart of New York City, Lauren Bacall's life was a captivating study in contrasts. From teenage fashion model gracing the cover of Harper's Bazaar to Hollywood icon locking eyes with Humphrey Bogart on the silver screen, she defied expectations, wielding her husky voice and smouldering presence to carve a unique path through the Golden Age of cinema, forever etching her name in the pantheon of Hollywood legends. Lauren Bacall lived a lucky life-and she knew it. In her 1978 autobiography By Myself, republished with additional material in 2005 as By Myself and Then Some, the word “luck” seems to appear more frequently than any other. In these pages, Bacall-long painted as a difficult diva-recounts her life with a sense of humor, curiosity, and gratitude that’s miles from her icy, grande dame persona. From her worshipful flirtation with politician Adlai Stevenson to her friendships with everyone from Robert Kennedy to Vivien Leigh, Bacall recounts her exciting life in an honest, emotional, and vulnerable way that’s rare to find in a celebrity autobiography. “I realize that I’ve lived a long time,” she wrote in 2005. “But still not long enough to suit me.” Bacall was raised in New York City by her beloved, hard-working divorced mother and a tight-knit group of aunts, uncles, and a grandmother who originally hailed from Romania. Taught to be a “good Jewish girl” by her family of lawyers and executive secretaries, Bacall was a go-getting dreamer who knew the stage was where she wanted to be. When she wasn’t taking acting lessons (where she casually dated a young Kirk Douglas), a teenage Bacall could be found outside legendary Broadway haunts like Sardi’s, hawking Cue magazine in an effort to meet producers. “There I’d stand outside, stopping all and sundry to buy my products,” she writes. “I kept my eyes peeled for the sight of a recognisable producer, actor, anyone who might help me get a job. I really was crazy, now that I think of it, and rather fresh, flip, nervy.” By 1941, the gawky girl with big feet had blossomed into an exotic beauty who caught the eye of legendary Harper’s Bazaar editor Diana Vreeland. After a trip to St. Augustine for a photo shoot, Vreeland was determined to squeeze onto a packed train back to New York. Bacall remembered the hilarity that ensued: Our group boarding the train-me leaning on Diana for the benefit of porters, conductors, God knows who-playing the death scene from Camille-trying to be brave-feeling a bit faint…Diana saying, ‘There, there, dear. Take it easy now, you have to rest.’ Not the best acting I’d ever seen-we were both overdoing it. Let's get this straight once and for all - it was only one half of the band who truly indulged in this debauched lifestyle, that is Bonham and Page. John Paul Jones was a devoted family man and even though Plant would have had is fair share of dalliances and drugs at the start, he consciously began to distance himself from this carnage; he said by 1975 he would prefer to go back after a gig and read Nietzsche! Have you ever heard one story ever of him being addicted to drugs or drink at any point in the band's history? Essentially Plant was a countryside loving hippy at heart, as his lyrics often revealed. Apart from Bonzo and Page, the true revellers and culprits were the road crew and the general hangers on, led by the tour manager Richard Cole, a real nasty violent bastard by all accounts. There was an almost mafia like culture to this cabal, which along with the threatening presence of manager Peter Grant could often be violent to anyone who got in their way in the process. In short, by the mid career of this relatively short-lived band, Page was a full blown herion addict, Bonham was an alcoholic and the other two were clean. And by through the second half of the 70's, the band gradually imploded, finally collapsing with Bonham's alcohol related death in 1980. If you want evidence of their decline, look how bloody lousy they got in concert in the second half of that decade, not to mention the two pretty average albums they produced within that period, when Page seemed to have lost most of his genius on the way.

I saw him at the Capitol theater in Passaic N.J in 1972. What a great show. Rip Joe.

Brian was super smarmy, and was taught what happens to a person when your a right twat. There’s some right ones on here who felt sorry for him, I think his life was sad, but he was a very selfish human being and had everything. If he’d quit the drugs worked hard he’d have had a great life. How many of us could have dreamed of owning Cochford Farm???? He’d have been with the stones to the end if he’d have just been nice. He had no friends, Charlie Watts said he wasn’t a nice person. Frank Thoughgood killed him, and he teased and took enjoyment out of it and wa la. Stop feeling sorry for an entitled twat. He chose to be that way. He was a brilliant musician and should have known his place and stood back and let Keith and Mick get on with writing and supported them. He couldn’t accept he was no longer the leader. Life’s like that sometimes you have to face reality and step back. There’s always a bigger gun in town at some point.

Joy Division: The TRAGIC Death Of Ian Curtis (1956 - 1980) Ian Curtis Life Story A spectre hangs over post-punk: the enigmatic figure of Ian Curtis. Defined by more than just his tragically short life, Curtis was a vocalist whose baritone voice resonated with a profound darkness, mirroring the despair and alienation of a generation disillusioned by a decaying society. Fronted by Curtis, Joy Division carved a unique sonic landscape - bleak yet strangely beautiful, a reflection of the internal struggles Curtis battled in his own soul. His intense, introspective lyrics offered no easy answers, but instead, a raw and visceral exploration of human emotions, leaving an indelible mark on the musical scene and forever etching his name amongst the pantheon of rock legends. Joy Division were part of the first wave of young punks to come out of Manchester. They were inspired to start a band by the arrival of the Sex Pistols in the city in the summer of 1976 and their first recordings were primitive, angry, three-chord thrashes. But Joy Division were a remarkable band and soon grew out of their punk roots, while their lead singer Ian Curtis was a mesmerising frontman. His wild dancing and manic stage presence owed a lot to pre-punk hero Iggy Pop, but there were darker influences, too. Curtis worked at the Job Centre in his hometown of Macclesfield, Cheshire, finding positions for people with special needs. One of his clients was a girl with epilepsy. At one point in 1978, Curtis noticed that the girl had stopped coming into the department. He later discovered she’d had a fit in her sleep and had tragically died. The incident inspired Curtis to write a new song about the girl: She's Lost Control. This was distressing enough, but what made things worse was that Curtis himself had developed the symptoms of epilepsy himself.Joy Division made the long trip to London on 27th December 1978 for their first gig in the capital, but the show at the Hope & Anchor pub in Islington was poorly attended. Feeling negative about the situation, Curtis lashed out at the other members of the band on the drive back to Manchester - literally. As it transpired, he was having what appeared to be an epileptic fit. The other members of Joy Division - guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris - took their bandmate to a nearby hospital, where Curtis recovered. He was told to go and see his doctor when he returned home. His songs were part of my life soundtrack. I am 10 years younger but was never a groupie type. He said alcoholism is a disease. I agree. He’s humble and down to earth. His interview with Piers Morgan in 2014 said a lot. I did not know David as much asGeorge Michael et al. I’m sad this had to happen to such a nice guy. My favourite song was Cherish. That was much better and emotional than the original version. RIP, David. Sigh.
